The Florida All-State Band meets in January in Tampa, FL. Students who wish to audition for All-State must prepare all 12 major scales starting on Concert G moving in the circle of 4th’s playing as many octaves as possible in 2 minutes or less. In addition to the 12 major scales, a chromatic scale demonstrating full range of your instrument, 2 etudes and sight-reading will complete the audition. Auditions are usually held in September each year and requirements are posted around May 1.
