Wind Ensemble acceptance to perform at the 2022 CBDNA/NBA Southern Division Conference
The College Band Directors National Association/National Band Association Southern Division Conference has invited our ensemble to perform for their bi-annual convention, which will take place at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC on February 24 or 25, 2022. Our ensemble was chosen amongst dozens of schools who submitted audition materials from 11 states across the Southeastern US. The recordings were juried by college band directors from colleges and universities within the CBDNA Southern Division and our ensemble was selected on the merit of the high level of musical achievement of our students. The four schools that were selected to perform represent the very best student bands in the southeast US and it is an honor to have been selected!
The purpose of the CBDNA/NBA Southern Division Conference is to provide CBDNA/NBA (college, high school, and middle school directors) the opportunity for professional development, inspiration, collaboration, and scholarly interaction. Participants attend workshops, lectures, panel discussions and interact with fellow educators, conductors, and composers from all corners of the U.S. An integral component of the conference is performances by the best college, high school, and middle school bands in the region. These performances function as models of exemplary music-making, and often showcase works by new composers, and provide students the experience of performing in an incredible venue for an audience of well-educated musicians and their guests. Additionally, as invited performers, we will represent our school and our community on a national stage where we will proudly display the collective efforts of all our stakeholders, least of which are those of our outstanding hard-working student musicians. A performance of this magnitude is the first in the history of Plant HS, and for any high school in Hillsborough County. This will be a journey these students will remember for a lifetime and I look forward to the musical growth and experiences we will share as we prepare for our performance at the 2022 CBDNA/NBA Southern Division Conference!
Conference Weekend: February 24-26, 2022
Performance: Thursday, February 22, 2022
Location: University of South Carolina
Cost: Around $400
Transportation: Charter Bus (Wind Ensemble only)
Chaperons: Will need at least 2 to ride the bus. More may be allowed based on space on the bus
Hotel: Embassy Suites in Columbia; only THREE students per room per COVID guidelines
Parent/Family Attendance: Open to anyone to attend the concert; more details to come soon.

Travel Day, Rehearsal upon arrival to South Carolina, Dave and Busters Dinner/Gaming
Thursday, February 24
Possible Campus Tour, Rehearsal/Warm, Performance Day, Watch other Bands, Bowling and Dinner
Friday, February 25
Morning activity/watch collegiate band, Travel day back to Tampa – arrive around 10pmCongrats to the 2020-21 Wind Ensemble for their hard work preparing the audition recording. The seniors from that ensemble will be listed in our program (if allowed). Congrats to all former Wind Ensemble members for their part of building our program to this national level!
